Red Eye
February 8th, 2010 by Derrick DePledgeHonolulu City Councilman Charles Djou got some national face time on Fox News' "Red Eye," an irreverent chat show aimed at younger viewers.
Djou -- a Republican running in the special election to fill out the remainder of U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie's term in Congress -- did his best to stay on point while host Greg Gutfeld hit him with wacky questions based on Hawaii stereotypes.
(Our favorite, in homage to the famous "Brady Bunch" episodes in Hawaii: "Do tiki dolls give curses?")
Not sure "Red Eye" will be giving equal time to former congressman Ed Case and state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, the Democrats in the race. Gutfeld told Djou at one point: "Dude, I think you're going to win."

Pretty sad that Djou would pander to Fox with this cheesy interview, replete with the most tired mainland cliches about Hawaii, and view of us as foreign. ("I'll have to get my passport renewed." They forgot to mention mai tais and getting lei'd. Groan...)
Djou's suggestion that Hawaii voters are fed up with Congress and would therefore elect him is as laughable as the deluded gaggle of teabaggers who occasionally turn out to screech at traffic and howl at the moon.

It is good to see the comments from Ed Case HQ on this board. Since he's been sandbagged by Inouye and Akaka nobody loves him anymore. Maybe it was that comment about Hanabusa being "clueless."

It's really fun to watch Desparation Democrats absolutely melt down as they realize that they in fact might lose this election.

Kimo, I'm not a Democrat and I'm not "desparate," but at least I can spell. As in, even if Charles wins the special, he's still a "L-O-S-E-R."

The real fun is watching delusional teabaggers get themselves all worked up over useless talking point mavens like Djou and bumbling kooks like Panos.
